Dear [MP’s Name],
I am writing as a constituent to ask you to add your name to Gregory Stafford MP’s Backbench Business Debate application on SEND provision and reform.
As you know, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is an issue that affects every constituency. Every one of us represents families who face daily challenges navigating a system that can feel complex, inconsistent and under-resourced. Ensuring that every child, regardless of their needs, has access to the education, care and opportunities they deserve is not simply a matter of policy but one of fairness and equality.
Despite previous commitments, progress on SEND reform remains frustratingly slow. The Government has now confirmed that the publication of the SEND White Paper has been delayed until 2026, and that it will not be released alongside the wider Schools White Paper. With this delay, families risk waiting even longer for clarity on the future of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and how reforms will address the difficulties they face in securing timely and appropriate support. This is deeply disappointing for the many families in [your constituency name] who are already struggling to navigate the current system.
This debate is a vital opportunity to keep SEND high on the Government’s agenda and ensure that Parliament continues to highlight the challenges faced by children, parents, schools and local authorities. This should not be about party politics, but about doing right by families in every constituency.
I urge you to show your support by signing Greg Stafford MP’s application and helping to secure parliamentary time for this important debate.
Yours sincerely,
[Your Name]
