Where's your Digital ID?

As of October 2nd 2025, almost 4,000 people in the Farnham and Bordon constituency have already signed an official petition against Labour’s proposal for compulsory digital identification. Gregory Stafford MP shares these concerns and is now asking his constituents to make their views known so he can write to the Secretary of State, taking your views directly to Government.

Labour’s plan would require every adult in the UK to hold a Digital ID. While some argue this could make life simpler by cutting through paperwork, many others believe it risks creating a centralised database of personal details, opening the door to higher costs, weaker privacy, and greater Government control.

Gregory has been clear: he believes digital ID is invasive, expensive, and wrong. He is not convinced it will do anything to stop illegal working or tackle small boat crossings - but he is convinced it hands excessive power to the state.

Please take a moment to complete the short survey below. It will take less than two minutes, and your response will help strengthen the argument in Parliament.

What are your main concerns?
Compulsory digital ID was not in Labour's 2024 General Election manifesto
1990s – Consultations raised the idea of ID cards but recommended against making them compulsory. 2006 – Identity Cards Act created a national register; cards were voluntary at first but intended to become compulsory. 2010–11 – Coalition repealed the Act and scrapped both the cards and the national database.
On a scale of 1-10, how confident are you that compulsory ID will reduce illegal immigration?
Not confident at all
