Gregory Stafford MP has reiterated the UK’s duty to remain steadfast in support of Ukraine as Russia’s full-scale invasion continues. He said that, as Ukraine’s longest-standing ally, Britain must ensure that Putin - the aggressor - is not ceded any territory.

Gregory noted the growing diplomatic activity among Western allies. Earlier this week, U.S. President Donald Trump convened a high-level summit in Washington with European leaders including President Macron of France, Chancellor Merz of Germany, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni of Italy, and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The talks aimed to accelerate diplomatic efforts to bring the war to an end, and prompted further discussions among European governments, including the UK, about ensuring any resolution safeguards Ukraine’s sovereignty and long-term security.

Speaking on the UK’s role, Gregory said:

“As Ukraine’s longest-standing ally, the UK must remain unwavering in its commitment that Putin, the aggressor, must not be ceded any territory.”

With speculation that Russia and Ukraine may be drawing closer to a deal, Gregory warned that it is more important than ever for the UK to stand firm on the international stage. He emphasised that any settlement must guarantee Ukraine’s future security and independence, and that Britain must continue to show leadership in supporting both Ukraine and its people.
